TOP STUDIO FOR THE
SOUTH CENTRAL REGION
The Federation of Dance Competitions, The FDC, is a non profit
501c6 organization started in 2007. It is comprised of 13
competitions with a singular mission to recognize dance excellence
in the competition world. The FDC is constantly searching for
multiple ways to “give back” to the dance world, to help evolve
competition elements, listen to the studio director’s needs, as well

dancers to achieve their goals.
Prodigy Dance Centre in The Shops at Legacy Takes Top Honors!
Prodigy Dance and Performing Arts Center has taken both the regional and national dance competition scene by storm. Prodigy is just completing its first year and is located in The Shops at Legacy in Plano. The students from Prodigy have amassed awards too extensive to mention. If you or your child have ever competed in dance you have coveted the title of Miss Starpower. Prodigy is home to both the Petite runner up and the Miss Petite Starpower, the Junior Miss Starpower, and the Teen Miss Starpower for the 2007-2008 season. They are the only studio in the Dallas- Fort Worth area or the State of Texas that can make that claim. They are also home to the Miss Petite Showbiz, The National Starlight Distinguished Performers of the Year in both the Mini and Junior divisions, Petite and Junior Miss Dance America, Mini and Junior Miss Fire and Ice and runner up Teen Miss Fire and Ice, to name a few. The teams have won 1st place overall and Best in Show in Junior and Teen at the nationally recognized Tremaine Summer Competition where students from the nation and the world competed. They also won 1st place overall and Best of Jump in Junior and Teen at the Jump competition and convention. The competition students have won over a hundred awards this year that are not listed and have been awarded thousands of dollars in scholarships. The studio is also the proud home of numerous area drill and dance team captains, officers and members that take Prodigy’s drill classes to enhance this part of their high school experience.
Prodigy offers classes in Ballet, Ballet Pointe, Modern, Jazz, Lyrical, Musical Theatre, Tap, Hip-Hop, Drill and Contemporary. The faculty’s training at Prodigy ranges from Broadway Dance Center in New York City, Steps on Broadway in New York City, The Juilliard School in New York City, Joffrey Ballet in Chicago, The Edge in Los Angeles, and Debbie Allen in Los Angeles. In addition to her extensive training the studio’s owner/director Camille Billelo has received numerous choreography awards.
While the studio’s first year was successfully dedicated to their competition companies. To foster future award winning company members they will be launching programs at all levels for all ages beginning at age 2 beginning mid August. This summer they are offering Dance Intensives and Master Classes for the intermediate to the most advanced dancer. For the pre-school set, there are Princess Camps that will feed into the fall classes that will be held at times that are convenient for the Moms of little princesses to shop and have coffee or a meal with friends at The Shops at Legacy during class times. For fans of High School Musical and Hanna Montana, the summer camps for beginners feature the music and the fun. They are also welcoming new competition company members at the upcoming auditions for the 2008-2009 dance season.
Prodigy’s mission statement is “Your Child is Our Prodigy”. So far it looks like mission accomplished with many more to come. For Information call Camille Billelo at Prodigy 972-PRODIGY or visit the website at www.prodigydancecentre.com
